Top Ten Introduction by Tim Wick
Hi, Tim Wick here. No, you probably don't know who
I am, but I kind of run the Read the Book, See the Movie
Club
.
By this I mean that I handle the administrative headaches so the other members can
enjoy reading books and watching movies.
Anway, I decided that it would be fun for the club
members to talk about what their top ten films of all times were. This was
to be personal preferences only. No matter how many people tell me that
"Citizen Kane" is a great film, I don't really enjoy it. I can appreciate
the importance of it, but that doesn't mean I'll buy a copy just to
impress my friends. The point was to choose the ten films that we just
loved - even if we knew they were really not great films.
What is on this page is the lists that club members provided, along
with a few comments I made on their choices (I figure I'm entitled because
I had to compile them). Each film is linked to Amazon.com where possible.
That way someone reading this list can just pop over and buy a copy of a
film that strikes their fancy. Where possible the link is to a widescreen
version. If the club member preferred it, I linked to DVD's rather than
VHS copies. Typically Amazon.com has both, so you can find the copy you
want no matter what.
Oh, one more thing - these are all GREAT films. I, of course, feel that
my top ten are the best of the bunch, but would happily watch anyone elses
choices. Some of the lists are in order, others are not, depending on the
individuals preference. Comments are included if the person provided
them.
If you'd like to send us your list, send it to tim.wick@earthlink.net.
