TJ Starbuck's Top Ten Toon List

1. Totoro
   My favorite. I loved it even when I first saw it in Japanese without subtitles. I love it even more in English.
   
   
2. Snowman???
   I honestly don't know the name of this animated short. It's about a snowman in a snowglobe on a shelf. He sees a hula girl also on the shelf and tries to get out of his snow globe. There is no dialogue but the expression on his face says it all. Especially when he tries to use dinamite and all it does is blow him spinning around the globe with the snow and burn his carrot nose. I saw it around 87 and have never forgotten it. If I could get a copy I would in a heart beat.
   
   
3. California Rasins Biography?
   A half hour long animation on how the California Rasins rise to the top of the music business leaving a sour grapefruit behind. The songs are great and the clips of the Rasins as children are priceless. I do own this one.
   
   
4. Pink Floyd's The Wall
   The symbolism in the the animation is wonderful. And using the animation to show how Pinky sees the world in his insanity is unique as far as I know. I especially like the sex scene between the flowers.
   
   
5. Heavy Metal
   Even though there is one section that I can't watch because it's too violent and gross (the WW II section), I love this movie. One of the first to have a female warrior in it that could actually fight.
   
   
6. Wizzards
   One of the first R rated movies I ever saw. I really like the characters and I think the contrast between the fluffy little fairys and the Nazis is chilling.
   
   
7. Nightmare Before Christmas
   I like Goth. To me this is Goth. I was really bummed when they stopped writing Gothic Romances 'cause I love the dark. Same reason I liked the first Batman. Like Dark. Not Gross.
   
   
8. Fantasia
   My favorite Disney. I love the demon section. Like the dark.
   
   
9. A Charlie Brown Christmas
   I really can't watch it anymore because it makes me cry. But I do love it.
   
   
10. The Grinch
    Was also my Dad's favorite. He loved the dog. Again, I can't watch it anymore, just too many memories, but it had to be on the list.
