Kat Pepmiller's Top Ten Toon List
- "Robin Hood Daffy" and "Duck Dodgers in the 24 1/2 Century"
Duck, Dodge, Spin, Parry, Thrust ...Twang. Come on Chuck Jones Rules!!!!!!!
I love these!
- Any Road RunnerCartoon
I agree with Tim. The Catapult is probably my favorite one.
-
"The Nightmare before Christmas"
This is simply brilliant and Danny Elfman's music is great. This is a masterpiece.
-
"Duck! Rabbit! Duck!", "Rabbit Seasoning"
I was devastated by the mutilation of these cartoons. I truly believe that
this type of censorship is caused by parents that don't spend enough time
with their kids. If they took the time to watch TV with their kids then they
could explain the behaviors that certain sects of our country have deemed
unacceptable. It's all about parental attention. My dad use to get us up on
Saturday morning so he could watch cartoons and not seem "foolish". I loved
watching Bugs Bunny/ Road Runner with my dad. It's one of my favorite
memories.
-
Walt Disney's "Cinderella"
It's a little girls dream. Come on guys - Perfect is Perfect.
-
Batman the animated series
I love the edgy feel of this show. The voices and animation are top notch.
-
"The Hobbit" by Rankin & Bass
It was my first exposure to that type of High Fantasy. I loved it.
-
"What's Opera Doc" & "The Rabbit of Seville"
I've put these together because as a kid I could not distinguish one from
the other. There are parts that still blend together for me. They are both
true masterworks. And a ongoing testament of the brilliant talent that Mel
Blanc was.
- The
School House Rock Series
There are very few of us in this generation that didn't grow up with these.
They weren't the greatest animation, but with catchy tunes and clever lyrics
they taught us the basics of grammar, multiplication and national history.
There was a time in the late 70's when this
was the best thing on Saturday morning TV.
- Rocky and Bullwinkle
They paved the way for shows like Animanics 25 years earlier. I didn't like
it much as a kid because I didn't understand it. Now that I understand. I
find that it was one of the most insightful satires ever done. Animanics had
brought back the same flavor, but we must tip our hats to the pioneers.
There are so many more: "Wathership Down",
"Robotech the movie", "Warriors
of the
Wind", "Kiki's Delivery Service",
"Totoro", "Wizards", "Aladdin"... I know I
have
forgotten some, But that's the dificulty with only picking 10.
