| 10) | The Cell - Deeply disturbing but visually stunning. The "interior
scenes" were unbelievable while the "exteriors" were FBI/Cop Schlock.
Flawed, Stunning and not for the faint of heart.
9) | The Patriot-Good war movie with much flag waving and historical
manipulation . Still, name a better Hollywood film about the American
Revolution.
8) | Finding Forrester - Very strong film about friendship and courage. Sean
Connery acts!
7) | Charlie's Angels - Just for the
"Big Butts" scene on Soul Train. A good
action adventure film with all the prerequisite gadgets and stunts.
6) | Oh Brother Where Art Thou? Very Funny and alive. A movie that is almost
completely true to the period and transports you to a simpler time. The
humor is situational and timeless and the Coen brothers have shown real
versatility.
5) | American Psycho - This one whipped thru the theaters and was on DVD by
November, but it's a powerful disturbing look at normalcy and acceptance.
4) | Frequency - Another failure to find a mass audience, but a must for the
Sci-fi geek, great paradox, excellent story.
3) | Cast Away - Although the movie was about Tom Hank's characters return to
civilization I thought the 1st half of the movie was more powerful. Hanks
castoff the Jimmy Stewart mantle with this one and blazed a new trail.
2) | Erin Brockovitch - Stunning visuals "they're called breasts" but an even
more powerful story brought to life by the reigning Hollywood box office
queen in her prime.
1) | Traffic - One of the truest movies of the last several years. Very harsh
and illuminating of a difficult subject brought to life by all too human
characters.
