Matrix Room party rocks Minicon"Welcome to the real world"
If you have never been to a MISFITS room party, you are missing out. And if you ever really missed out, it was at Minicon 35. Here are some of the highlights of the party. Friday Night, April 21stFirst of all, we have to apologize for the technical difficulties that prevented us from showing The Matrix as planned. We appreciate everyone's patience. The rest of the evening was a rousing success. Hundreds of people cycled through the room to catch a glimpse of The Bloodiest Movie Ever Made: The Directors Cut (a three hour plus extravaganza of movie clips featuring people dying and things blowing up also knows as TBMEMTDC). At least one hundred people actually chose to sit through the entire 3 Hour, 19 Minute & 38 second presentation and we know of two people that sat through it twice. As expected, cheers were heard during popular segments (Army Of Darkness clips were especially popular). Everyone seemed to have a good time and a great deal of chips and candy were devoured by all. Fifteen people entered our contest and the winner named almost two hundred of the 215 separate movies, plays, TV episodes and cartoons that were edited together to make the movie. The biggest thanks of all goes to Tim Wick and Ishmael Williams for editing the film together. We would also like to thank everyone who took the time to cue up their own tapes so Tim and Ish could use them (Chris Jones, Nathan Favilla, Tom Hogan, Windy Merrill, Tim Wick, Erin Lorenz, Ishamel Williams, Jeremy Stomberg, Kat Pepmiller, TJ Starbuck and Jason Enberg). They only had to rent one movie because no-one they knew actually owned a copy of Jaws. As if the crowd wasn't enough, we also were lucky enough to be written up in the Bozo Bus Tribune (Minicon's at - con publication). Here is what they had to say about TBMEMTDC (with comments added, of course): The Bloodiest Movie Ever Made It certainly was - what else would you expect from three hours of
cherry-picked mayhem? Finely edited [Tim and Ish say "thanks"] for the best
of murders, explosions, car crashes, train crashes, spaceship crashes and
the destruction of planets - all good clean fun. Someone among the MISFITS
is certainly oddly adjusted [Thanks again] in their taste in media. To be
truthful, most of this was actually excellent [preen, preen], very much
"best-of" shots. Like the scene when Chuck Norris was being chased by a
train that had jumped off the tracks - you'd think you'd be safe from the
train once you get away from the tracks - BUT NO! [Actually, that was
Harrison Ford in a scene from The Fugitive - Chuck Norris did not appear
in TBMEMTDC. We're glad you liked the scene, though] Also featured were
multiple scenes of the inevitable doom of Wile E. Coyote and the inescapable
death of Kenny from South Park. Some of these scenes were chosen for
blood content and no other reason: Arthur meets the Black Night from Monty
Python and the Holy Grail and the swordfight between Wednesday and Pugsley
from Addams Family Values for example. [Actually we chose those two
because they were funny, but we chose many others for blood content, so the
statement is fair] And, of course, the scene from The Matrix when Neo and
Trinity shoot their way into the building to free Morpheus. Kudos to
whoever sat through ALL three hours - I had to go in and out several times
to appease my delicate stomach.
It had a lot of action, but the plot seems thin
By the way, we were asked several times if there was a list available that listed the individual clips (all 250 of them). There is, and you can view the list yourself. And then, on the next page we'll move on to Saturday.
