  MISFITS Working Meeting Minutes

Thursday, April 26, 2007
Location - MISFITS Office, St. Paul, MN

In Attendance:
MISFITS Coordinators -
Peter, Thomas, Jodie
Guests: Cetius

Post Mortems

  • Anime Detour Room Party – Party was a success, well attended. Great setup, food, and the hosts wore costumes. AD now has a room party head for future contact. Peter has pictures. Idea: contact folks from Connie’s Space Lounge to host a party after AD move to new space.
  • Minicon Room Party – No report available.
  • Oddcon Room Party – Went well – paid up.
  • Trivia Contest – Dolomite 2007 winners. 8 teams competed. Contest seemed a bit on the harder side this year but still seemed enjoyed by all. Good turn out. Loved the white board/spelling bee bit. Need another person next year to help write questions and such.

Club Updates

  • Geek Physique – Need information for future walks – still at MOA or outside?
  • Book / Movie - The last meeting was A Scanner Darkly. Club is going well.
  • Geeks Read – Mtg with Lois McMaster Bujold to happen at CVG.
  • Crafty Geek – Jodie has decided to step down as co-head of the club due to lack of time – she’ll look for a replacement cohead.
  • Gaming - Meetings continue at Shinders for the foreseeable future. Question asked if a new venue will need to be found when the weather is warmer and they open the “garage doors” at the mini mall.
  • Miscellaneous – would like to see the upcoming club dates sent monthly to the MISFITS email list along with other event info

Web Update

  • Society Site - to contain mundane items. Thomas gave Jodie additional documents to be scanned for the site.

Budget Report

  • Society account opened. Thomas has been put on that as well as CVG account along with Pat Wick.
  • Our current balance is $30448.94.

Program Updates

  • GOT Edutainment – Report not available at the time
  • Project Giving - Anton sent us a suggestion for recipient. Oak Grove Elementary is in need of school supplies and books for their library. Approved for Q2. Add new info to the web site.
  • In the Schools – Raptor visit to Farnsworth Elementary completed. MISFITS sponsored Bridget Landry visits to two schools: Farnsworth Elementary and Edina (high school & elementary). Peter submitted a report to the MCs with details of the visit. The visit was quite a success. They welcomed Bridget on the outdoor sign and gave her and Peter T-shirts. Peter and Bridget also met with Principal and a few parents. The kids wrote us a bunch of neat Thank You cards.

Event Updates

  • Writing Contest – The 2007 Writing Contest is underway with the revised rules. Entries at the current time are less than last year. Unfortunately, we got the rules posted later than usual because we were overhauling them which probably had some effect. Also the PR2 wasn’t sent out until now and there hasn’t been any CVG emails – which is a bit hit to our advertising the contest. So far the new rules seem to be well accepted – we haven’t received any complaints.
  • Geek Prom - Discussion about the printer still underway.
  • Casino Night – Get to work on planning after Regents retreat. Host a modified “Assassin” game? Cetius expressed interest on volunteering for this event.

Other

  • Towels – they are in and were sold at the Trivia Contest.
