MISFITS
Working Meeting Minutes
Thursday, March 22, 2007
Location - MISFITS Office, St. Paul, MN
In Attendance:
MISFITS Coordinators -
Dave B., Matt, Thomas, Peter
Guests: Erin L.
Post Mortems
- MarsCon Room Party
- Our party was a great success. We received numerous
complements about it all weekend long. Everyone loved the
Saturday morning cartoon theme coupled with the cereal and
cookies. Damon and Jen were a great help with room
decorations and the prom committee sold 39 tickets. Matt
suggested that we keep the same suite for next year. A TV
(or use of projection system) is also needed for future, as
the hotel TVs were not usable (Emily stepped up and brought
a TV for MISFITS use.)
Club Updates
- Geek Physique - The
weekly walks are continuing. Tim has been using both LJ and
the listserv on Google to send out notifications. Walks will
be moving outside as the weather warms up.
- Book / Movie - The
last meeting was Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.
Club is going well.
- Geeks Read - No
update available.
- Crafty Geek - No
update available.
- Gaming - Meetings
continue at Shinders for the foreseeable future. MC's note
that the Source is always available and willing to
accommodate MISFITS as well.
Budget Report
- Thomas presented the
budget report. He reminded Matt to write charity letters. He
ran through a list of recent expenditures, including a bill
from Farnsworth Elementary, Marscon (which was 87 under
budget), and an IRS penalty in the amount of $1,140 assessed
against the organization for a late filing of 2005 taxes.
- Our current balance is
$32,522.48.
Program Updates
- In the Schools -
Erin came to the meeting. She is working with Farnsworth
Aerospace Elementary to have Bridget visit. Farnsworth is in
St. Paul, MN and the visit is scheduled for Friday, April
20th. Bridget will speak with all their children from 2nd to
6th grade as well as adults at 12:00 PM. Dave will
coordinate with Amada and Erin to see if Bridget can visit
Amada's school in Monday, April 23rd or coordinate in
general for raptor/robot/reptile visits. Erin is currently
also scheduling raptor center, robot, and reptile meeting
with other local schools.
- GOT Edutainment -
We had a visit to the Twin Cities Model Railroad Museum in
March. We had a good turnout with 8 people showing up and
touring the museum. Dave will work to schedule the 2nd
quarter museum visit for late April or early May.
Event Updates
- Trivia Contest - A
meeting is scheduled for next week to finish the script for
the evening. The last meeting was cancelled due to Patricia
Wick's illness. Other than that, everything is proceeding
according to plan.
- Geek Prom - Amada
is waiting for labels from Andy. Dave is coordinating this.
200 geek prom tickets went on sale on March 1st. 39 were
sold at MarsCon and about 10 were sold at the last ConCom
meeting. Tickets will also be sold at Anime Detour, MiniCon,
Trivia Contest, April ConCom, and at the door.
Other
- Dave proposed that MISFITS
purchase King Lear tickets when they go on sale in July. The
MC's will consider it.
- Towels - Thomas ordered 48
towels and they will be ready in about 2 weeks. He is
ordering them from Shirtz. He ordered medium weight 14 pound
beach towels. The price was $17.90 each and Thomas suggested
a price point of $20.00 and $25.00 at Con.
- Thomas got a letter from
the Ramsey Correction Dept. The county agrees with our
affidavit amount as filed. The amount can still be
challenged however.
