  MISFITS Working Meeting Minutes

Thursday, September 28, 2006 - 7:00 PM
Location - MISFITS Office, St. Paul, MN

In Attendance:
Officers -
Dave B., Matt, Thomas
Board Members - Pat
Guests - Roger

Club Updates

  • Geek Physique - Tim is running that. Highest turnout at the MOA. Lowest turnout outdoors. Bodes well for winter. Indoor walks upwards of nine people. Idea for the future – snowshoeing or cross country skiing.
  • Book/Movie - Choosing session last week. It would be nice to send out the list to the google group list once it is finalized. September book/movie was Hitchhikers. Next one is In Cold Blood.
  • Geeks Read - Next meeting is October 3rd. Online free book and meeting at Jodie’s.
  • Crafty Geek - Last meeting was Sept. 17th.
  • MISFITS of Gaming - Believe there was a 2nd meeting but nothing has been sent out from Dave Rust yet. Dave Rust will send us an update.

Budget Report

  • $320 charge from CVG for publications. Rent is the only thing coming up. We now have online billing with Qwest. We are now at $37,427.18. CVG audit and MISFITS audits completed and satisfactory. Officers will follow up via email to discuss areas that we want to beef up spending for next year. Recommended that we do another look at banks to see if we can get an interest bearing checking account and/or invest some money in a time account (CD).

Program Updates

  • GOT Edutainment (Dave B. and Erica Z.) Possible events: Science Museum, Burlesque Show, water slides, art museum, corn maze, haunted house, apple orchard. Any progress on a poll? (either on MISFITS web or LJ) Dave will contact Erica within seven days for a day out. Art museums are usually free on Thursday nights. Consider subsidizing Geek Physique events in addition to GOT events. We have scheduled a Body Worlds exhibit on Sunday, Nov. 19th at
2 PM. Dave has a 10/12 deliverable to get us all relevant information
  • In the Schools – Jodie will touch base with Erin and Dave Kingsley to get an update.

Events Updates

  • Fall Event (Movie Night) – budgeted for $600 (could go up). Mounds Theatre too cost prohibitive ($750 for theatre rental alone). Rex guys could do a January movie during that concom but that would be long because it is a election meeting. The November concom is on a Sunday, so staying late for that probably wouldn’t work either. If movie night is pushed off until January, then the two GOT events will have to sustain us for the fall. Peter will follow up with Rex boys to see if a November date is feasible or to lock down the January date.
  • Spring Prom 2007 – Prom Committee start date of 11/01. Have Amada and/or Emily been approached? Creature Feature Theme. Matt will talk to Amada and Emily about this within a week.
  • Fall Officer Retreat -  November – 4th and 5th. We should confirm concom meeting date. Touch base with other officers. Two nights. Decide Fri to Sun or Sat to Mon. Officers will discuss this via email and Thomas will work with Ishmael to get room for that date.

Other

  • Inventory List and Checkout System – Dave has made a template and it is up in the office ready for use and now he’s working on a permanent stamp to mark our equipment as well.
  • Photography Club – Roger brought forward an idea for a photography club. A formal submission has not been received. Officers were in agreement that it sounded like a good idea. The next step – Roger will email Chris Jones to send out a separate email soliciting interest from the general concom so Roger can have a base of interested people to further shape this idea.
  • Room party planning – MarsCon PR1 just went out – Dave B. will contact Dave K. to see if Dave K. would be interested in hosting another MST3K themed party. Matt will volunteer to help with party depending on the theme. We need to check out Minicon and Detour.
  • Picture Archive Project – Peter (CD/DVDs in office) – No update.
  • Board / Officer meeting scheduled for 10/04
