Announcement of Corporate Name Change
We are delighted to announce that the Minnesota Society for interest in Science Fiction and Fantasy (MISFITs) has changed its corporate name to the Geek Partnership Society effective May 1, 2010.

After much reflection, we feel the new name provides a better identification of the Society’s direction toward partnering with new, interesting and exciting Geek-related groups and events!

About the Geek Partnership Society
The Geek Partnership Society is a non-profit organization with a mission of celebrating imagination, inspiring creativity, and building our community, all through service and education.

The Geek Partnership Society has been serving the Twin Cities and its surrounding communitie since 1999.

Check out the GPS FAQ. Contact us a info@misfit.org if you have any questions.

Volunteer Opportunities
The MISFITS Directors are excited about the future of our organization and where we can grow and change - but it is going to take a lot of work and we need your help! See what new volunteer opportunities are available. Pass it on!

MISFITS Sponsors 1st Participant to Space Camp
We are proud and excited to announce the selection of Erica, an 8th-grade student from Farnsworth Elementary in St. Paul, MN, to be the first MISFITS Space Camp participant!

Erica will attend the Space Academy, a 6-day immersion program which gives children ages 12-14 the opportunity to train as a shuttle pilot, flight director, or mission scientist. She's looking forward to practicing astronaut training, participating in mission simulations, and learning more about space.

Upon her return, Erica will share with us an essay describing her adventure at Space Camp and photographs which will all be posted on the MISFITS website.

MISFITS will continue to send one student to Space Camp or Space Academy each year.

Once again, congratulations to Erica and Farnsworth Elementary School!

Organization Separation
There is a plan underway to divide the two halves of The Society - CONvergence and the collection of clubs and events known as MISFITS - into two autonomous organizations operating under a partnership agreement rather than two halves of a single organization.

Read the FAQ about these plans where you will find more information on the reasons for this change, what effect this will have on behind-the-scenes organization, and how you can learn more or even getting involved with shaping the organizations' future.

If you would like more information or would like to discuss these changes, you are encouraged to speak to any member of The Society Board of Directors, or contact us at board@misfit.org.
