August Open Meeting: Robots!

On Saturday, August 5th, MISFITS held an Open meetings at the Richfield Community Center, on Nicollet and 70th Street in Richfield, MN.

Luckily for all concerned the MISFITS business meeting was officially "short and sweet", so that we could all get down to the serious business of play. Much to the delight of ALL Open meeting attendees - the Twin Cities Robotics group came and showed off their toys. Hey - we even got to play with them!

Thanks to the TC Robotics group, a large number of us are also a LOT poorer for going in search of such NECESSARY items as "lego Mindstorms" and "power packs" among just a FEW of the absolutely NEEDED robotics survival gear.

Also, a big thanks to the custodian at Richfield Community Center, who is also a Scifi fan, for his showing us his "Vulcan Submarine" plans, and allowing us to "loudly cheer on" the Sumo robots that Rand brought.

Most of us managed to "invade" a nearby Perkins for the required "post robotic munchies",and then followed that up with a trek to see (and for some re-see) the new X-Men movie. While the X-Men movie was fantastic - there are now some "serious bets" going on in the club as to whether or not the Robotics club can come up with a "Wolverine" type Robot - after all, if they can come up with Sumo robots, what's to STOP them?? *(grin) Please note the new MISFITS Web link for the Twin Cities Robotics group.
